What you need to know about Turkey. Tips from seasoned travelers

Are you flying to Turkey for the first time? It should be said at once that this country will surprise you in many ways, because here there is a completely different mentality, different customs and tastes. For example, in this country a lot of people smoke - both men and women, and even the younger generation is smoking heavily. And they also like a pretty pungent fragrance. Persistent toilet water or perfume in Turkey - is an ordeal not for the faint-hearted. And the local population is fond of cats, and there are the best conditions for them - up to free vending machines in the streets with cat food.

Worth the flight

Walks along the sea and around the city are good in Antalya. The shopping is excellent.

Izmir - a huge number of cafes and restaurants along the waterfront. The Cesme resort is not far away.

Belek is the best sandy beaches in Turkey. We recommend going there with children.

Kusadasi - a nice town with huge cruise ships, nice beaches and an ancient fortress.

Kas - here Turkey is a little different. Cozy white houses, comfortable cozy vacation without the so-called "packers".

Marmaris is the best vacation for young people.

Alanya - probably the most budget and comfortable rest.

What is recommended to take with you?

The most important thing is the passport, your airline ticket, a tourist ticket or the reservation of a hotel you've chosen in advance.

How to behave in Turkey?

Turkey is certainly a Muslim country. But if you're an adequate person who knows how to behave in society, you have nothing to worry about. Turkey has long been focused on Europe. It's a mistake to think that because it's a Muslim country, women here will be wrapped in scarves. Women here are dressed just like any European woman. By the way, the Turks mostly speak very good English. And in many hotels they speak Russian.

Learn a few important phrases before you arrive, it will come in handy. For example, "teshikur ederim" means "thank you" in Turkish.

Also in Turkey you may be surprised by the abundance of armed soldiers, bars and fences. Just try not to pay attention to it.

Before you book a hotel, check if there are mosques nearby. Otherwise, every day at five in the morning you will be awakened by drowning and quite loud chants.

In the Turkish streets you will be attacked by local "offerers" and "hustlers" trying to shove something. Smile politely and pass them by with the word "yaryn" (tomorrow).

Do not be fooled by the stories about the delicious street food in Turkey. It is not! You will buy an unfamiliar dish and be disappointed. Mostly kebabs are a handful of charred meat wrapped in a rubber pita. Look for small places to eat. But, again, you need to know exactly where the food is edible. The best advice for you is to choose all-inclusive hotels!

It is also important to know that in Turkey is very weak Internet, and who is also very censored.

And one more very important tip. Holiday in Turkey need to go in the fall! The sea in September-October is very warm, everywhere is buried in green, very few tourists and prices are much lower than in summer! Have a nice rest.
